Contents clean, no inscriptions, one dink to front cover which had impressed to first gathering, jacket is clean and fresh. An undercover mission beyond the Iron Curtain to recover a defected scientist goes disastrously wrong; a classic early Cold War thriller from the acclaimed master of action and suspense. Filmed in 1961 under its U.S. title 'The Secret Ways', starring Richard Widmark. In the 50s and 60s, MacLean was one of the chief rivals of Ian Fleming, both authors sharing a Scottish heritage and a Royal Navy background. Item #74903
