A presentation copy of The Handbook in an exquisite bespoke binding, for Sir Kenneth Blackburne, KCMG, OBE (1907-1980), Governor of the Leeward islands, 1950-56, Governor of Jamaica from 1957 until 1962, then briefly Governor-General following Jamaican Independence. He was also a keen sailor, swimmer, motorist and island historian, almost certainly know to famous resident author Ian Fleming through their shared interests. Blackburne, as Governor, appears in James Bond's island adventure Dr.No, where he was "vilified by Fleming as an incompetent time server" (Nigel West).
