Privately printed for the author, 1967. [Modern Literature] SIGNED LIMITED EDITION, No.100 of 150 copies. Foolscap format Octavo (33 x 22cm), printed on rectos only, [5 leaves]; leaves 1-177; [1 leaf]. Signed in blue ink to title page. White plastic comb binding with printed card covers illustrated with an oversized £5 note design. The trade edition was to replicate this bank note cover but was vetoed fearing an action by the Bank of England. A fine copy with minimal handling. A comic novel about three con-artists. Produced in this limited format for copyright purposes whilst negotiating a deal for a film based on the novel. The Paramount motion picture starring Richard Attenborough, David Hemmings, and Alexandra Stewart was released in May 1968. A Deighton rarity, from the collection of bibliographer Jon Gilbert (pencil ownership within), purchased from Nigel Williams of Cecil Court. Item #72845
