Live and Let Die [two variant copies of the same impression].

London: Pan Books, 1963. [James Bond spy novel] UK Paperback edition, eleventh printing, 'Great Pan' covers and 'X' series covers (February 1963). Slim octavos (18 x 11cm), pp.247; [1], blank. Publisher's illustrated softcovers by Peff, 'X' series with printed price 3/6, 'Great Pan' priced 3/6 via publisher's label over 2/6 price. 'Yellow band' card wrappers designated GP83 or X233. Contents clean, no inscriptions, toning to cheap paper text block as expected, minor spine roll, rubs to joints. Very good. This was a transitional printing of the second Bond novel, where the price changed from 2/6 to 3/6. Book GP83 has the higher price label applied. X233 covers were intended for the tenth printing onwards, so this copy is an anomaly/misbound with these covers. This uncommon pair is from the collection of Fleming bibliographer Jon Gilbert (pencil ownership within). Item #72788
