Publisher's grey quarter cloth lettered in gilt to spine, with purple cloth over boards, pictorial dust-jacket with back cover portrait of Le Carré taken by The Douglas Brothers, priced at £16.99. Minor edge wear, a little pushed at extremities. Near fine. Harry Pendel is the best known tailor in Panama and is hired by all the top brass, but his past is a well hidden secret - until the British secret agent Andrew Osnard turns up. Basis for John Boorman's 2001 film, with 'James Bond' star Pierce Brosnan as Osnard, Geoffrey Rush as Pendel, Jamie Lee Curtis as his wife Louisa and, in an early appearance, 'Harry Potter' actor Daniel Radcliffe as their son Mark.
