Anthony Melville-Ross wrote six novels between 1978 and 1985, all inspired by his background as a Royal Navy sub-mariner in the Second World War. He had an extremely successful career, eventually commanding his own boat and transferring to British Intelligence after the war. He was mentioned in despatched and won the DSO. His secret agent Trelawney was compared to Ian Fleming's James Bond, as seen on the jacket of the present book.
