A fine copy of the book in a very good wrapper with some chips and tears, old tape marks to reverse side, toning/soiling to spine. Shows well. Colonel Richard Henry Meinertzhagen, CBE, DSO (1878-1967). Soldier, intelligence officer and ornithologist, serving as chief of British Military Intelligence for the East African campaign at Nairobi, Kenya. Here he describes the birds of the whole Arabian Peninsula, where he travelled widely. Meinertzhagen's writing was greatly admired by the thriller writer Ian Fleming. From the comprehensive bibliographical archive assembled by Jon Gilbert. His encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography. Item #71427
