A fine copy of the book in a very good jacket, without fading, some wear to joints, spine backed with paper for strength. Shows well. Colonel Richard Henry Meinertzhagen, CBE, DSO (1878-1967). Soldier, intelligence officer and ornithologist, serving as chief of British Military Intelligence for the East African campaign at Nairobi, Kenya. Here he describes birds as predators, hunters and killers, and describes their ability to make use of the other animals in their environment. Meinertzhagen's writing was greatly admired by the thriller writer Ian Fleming. From the comprehensive bibliographical archive assembled by Jon Gilbert. His encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography. Item #71426
