London: Collins, 1962. [True crime] UNCORRECTED PROOF COPY of the FIRST EDITION. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.[10]; 11-224. Publisher's red wrappers with printed label to upper. Some copy-editing in pencil throughout. A very good, lightly used example of a scarce proof, with an entirely different page setting to the published book. Fleming bibliographer Jon Gilbert's copy, with pencil ownership within. This is the only proof copy he has encountered. Airline Detective is the story of BOAC security expert Donald E. W. Fish, being ghost written by John Pearson and introduced by Ian Fleming, who had met Fish some years earlier when covering an Interpol conference for the Sunday Times. Item #70420
