A near fine copy. A novel about Fleet Street publishing, power, and national politics. Author, editor and typographer Robert Harling worked alongside James Bond creator Ian Fleming both in wartime Naval Intelligence and later in journalism; Some of Fleming's writing appeared in Harling's publications Alphabet & Image, and House & Garden, and the two were senior figures at Kemsley Newspapers (Sunday Times). He was responsible for reviving the stencilled 'tea chest' lettering which adorned the jackets of Fleming's James Bond novels, and himself an author, Harling wrote several novels and a full-length biography of Fleming. This copy is from the comprehensive archive of bibliographer Jon Gilbert (pencil ownership within), whose encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography.
