Publisher's tan cloth blocked in burgundy. With signed, dated presentation note to free endpaper, including a Shakespeare quote 'What a piece of work is Man!'. Contents clean, some gentle spotting to edges, spine sunned. Very good. Phyllis Bottome (1884-1963), novelist and story writer, educator and mentor to Ian Fleming. The Lifeline, her only spy novel, features a protagonist Mark Chalmers whom Fleming biographer Oliver Buckton suggests is based on Fleming himself. Item #68705
