Original full brown buckram with gilt titles, t.e.g., illustrated dust-wrapper priced £2, 2s, 0d. A stylish and expensive book for the time. Contents clean but for two discreet stamps, presentation label to pastedown 'gift of Rt Rev Monsignor Thomas J. McCarthy' for Marymount College, a group of international schools founded by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM). A fine copy in lovely fine wrapper. An elegant production from the publishing house run by Ian Fleming (renamed Queen Anne Press shortly after this release). Later owned by Fleming's bibliographer Jon Gilbert (also published by QAP). Knox was the catholic chaplain of Oxford University, a radio broadcaster and a detective novelist. Waugh's own book The Holy Places (1952) would also be published by Ian Fleming's press. Item #68523
