Salvage For The Saint.
London: Hodder and Stoughton Ltd., 1983. [Crime Fiction] FIRST UK HARDBACK EDITION. Octavo (19 x 12cm), pp.191; [1], advertisement. Publisher's blue cloth hardcover blocked in gilt to the spine, illustrated dust-jacket priced £7.95. No inscriptions. Edges a little dusty, spine sunned. Near fine. Uncommon to find a privately-owned copy as most went to libraries. The fiftieth and penultimate 'Saint' novel, based on the two-part 'Return of the Saint' television episode "Collision Course" by John Kruse. As was the custom at this time, the author credit on the cover went to Leslie Charteris, who served in an editorial capacity. The year after publication, Charteris briefly revived The Saint Magazine, which ran for three issues. Charteris died in 1993 and the next Saint books appeared in 1997, when bibliographer Burl Barer published a novelisation of the Val Kilmer film adaptation, and a limited-edition original novel, being the final entry in the Simon Templar series.
