President John F. Kennedy had named Fleming's novel 'From Russia, with Love' among his ten favourite books of all time in Life magazine, so producers Broccoli & Saltzman chose this as the follow-up to James Bond's cinematic debut in Dr. No. It was the last film President Kennedy saw at the White House on 20th November 1963 before going to Dallas. Ian Fleming and Sean Connery attended the premiere on 10th October 1963 at London's Odeon Leicester Square. The film doubled Dr. No's gross by earning $12.5 million ($123 million in 2023 dollars) at the worldwide box office, and was the most popular film in Britain in 1963. It won a BAFTA for best cinematography and composer John Barry was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song. Item #68360
