After selling his namesake company in 1931 he worked as a designer for Lagonda and Aston Martin. Fitted with an Amherst Villiers supercharger, the 4.5 litre Bentley was chosen by author Ian Fleming for his famous character's own vehicle, featuring in the first three James Bond novels.
