London: Penguin, 1968 [1967]. [Comic novel] FIRST TRADE EDITION, a paperback original. Two variant copies. Octavo (18 x 11cm), pp.251; [5], advertisements. Publisher's softcovers with either Brian Duffy's 'smiling lips' photograph or an uncredited 'seductive blonde' photograph. No ink names. Textblocks toned as expected, some spotting, covers show some use/handling, some reading creases. Very good overall. The true first edition, published simultaneously with the hardback edition on 22nd April 1968. The bibliography records the 'smiling lips' design for the hardback and softcover, but does not note the variant cover design. Item #67394
