London: Jonathan Cape, 1959. [Spy thriller] FIRST EDITION, printer's copy. Octavo (20 x 13cm), pp.318. Publisher's black cloth-effect material over boards, with titles to spine in SILVER and 'skull' design blocked in gold to upper. Most copies were lettered to the spine in gilt. Contents clean, no inscriptions. A crisp, fine copy without the wrapper. With loose card stating that this was a copy retained by the printer. The seventh of author Ian Fleming's fourteen original Bond books which was was adapted as the third film (1964) in EON Productions' 007 series. Chosen by Anthony Burgess as one of the best ninety-nine novels in English published since 1939. Item #67220
