The Ring.

London: Secker and Warburg, 1967. [Modern literature/60s culture] UNCORRECTED PROOF COPY of the FIRST EDITION. Octavo (20 x 14cm), pp.352. Publisher's printed tan softcovers. Contents clean, some light soiling to covers, ink note to rear. Very good indeed. The author's second novel, a frank portrait of the squalid side of gay life in London in the 'sixties; a sleazy, nightmare and criminal world 'not for the squeamish' (from the blurb). 'Dickie' Chopping was the artist responsible for the memorable series of jacket designs which adorned Ian Fleming's James Bond novels. He later attempted fiction, which was well received and established him as a credible author in his own right. This copy formerly owned by Jon Gilbert, bibliographer of Ian Fleming (pencil signature within). A rare proof; no other copies are currently listed. Item #67214

Gilbert p.637.
