Boodle [a.k.a The Saint Intervenes].
London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1934. [Three mystery novellas] FIRST EDITION, first impression. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.312; [8], adverts. Publisher's pale blue cloth with title panel blocked in dark blue to spine and front cover. Contents clean with no ink names, binding is tight and square, with some rubbing and shelfwear, some minor fraying to rear joint. Backstrip has some mild discolouration, the pigment possibly improved (expertly so). A very good copy indeed, lacking the exceptionally rare jacket. A scarce first printing of this 'Saint' story collection, whose title was changed for America, and later UK editions. This British first includes 'The Noble Sportsman' which was omitted in later editions, and was adapted in 1964 for the television series starring Roger Moore. Four further stories from this collection featured as episodes in the ATV series. Item #66700
BARER, Burl. The Saint in Print, Radio, Film & TV, p.392.
