'How To Write A Thriller' contained within 'Books and Bookmen' magazine. Vol. 8, No 8, May 1963.
London: Hansom Books, 1963. [James Bond literary reference] FIRST APPEARANCE. Loose leaves, extracted from the publication, within a simple slide binder. The article appears on pp.14-19, with a vignette photograph of the author. This issue also features an advert for James Clavell's 'King Rat' with a supporting quote by Ian Fleming (p.16). Fine, albeit excised. Scarce nonetheless. This Fleming article originally appeared in the UK in Queen magazine (November 1962) and in the US in Show Magazine (August 1962); those two glossy publications were far more commercial and had a wider audience. This version of the article is more elusive, appearing in a niche journal for bibliophiles, with a much smaller readership. From the comprehensive bibliographical archive assembled by Jon Gilbert, with pencilled ownership. His encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography. Item #66347
