Jamaica: Sangster's Book Stores / Andre Deutsch, 1965. [Travel book] FIRST EDITION, Second Impression, JAMAICAN ISSUE. Octavo (24 x 16cm), pp.240, illustrated throughout with colour plates, map endpapers printed in colour. Publisher's russet cloth hardcover, gilt titles, top edge ochre, in photographic dust-jacket. Neat ink inscription, jacket with some edgewear, worn at spine ends. Very good. Novelist Ian Fleming discusses the island where, at his winter retreat named Goldeneye, he wrote one Bond novel a year from 1952/3-1964. This is the scarce Jamaican issue, using the UK sheets with a newly-pressed title page featuring the Sangster's imprint. Founded in 1941, Sangster's is one of Jamaica's oldest booksellers and stationers. Still operating today, the firm has branches in Kingston, Montego Bay, and thirteen locations across the island.
