Text in English. Large format annual volume in stiff, glossy covers. A moderately used copy with some edgewear, extremities a little rubbed. This is a heavy book which shows wear quite readily. Contains the first appearance in print of this Ian Fleming essay, included in book form in Thrilling Cities, two years later. Ian Fleming's account of his recent trip to the Far East, researching for his next Bond novel. Editor-in-chief of the book is Torao 'Tiger' Saito, and the book includes an associated article entitled 'Operation Hangover' by Fleming's friend Richard 'Dikko' Hughes; both these men became characters in You Only Live Twice, which Fleming dedicated to them. Effectively a lavish, promotional book, showing Japanese history, culture, customs as well as everyday modern life. Aimed at the US tourist market, with content from western writers. Item #65541
