Publisher's cloth-effect paper over boards with scarlet endpapers in a pictorial dust-jacket illustrated by Richard Chopping. A lovely fine copy in like jacket. This copy was exported and sold in Johannesburg, SA (elegant seller ticket of Exclusive Books Pty. Ltd. to pastedown), price clipped accordingly. Shows extremely well. UK Cape editions of Fleming's best-selling James Bond series were imported by British overseas territories across the globe [Gilbert], as demonstrated by the present copy. Founded in 1951 in central Johannesburg, Exclusive Books is one of South Africa's largest bookselling chains; the Hillbrow branch where this copy was purchased was their second store to open, in 1954.
